Derek Belle

Derek Belle has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Derek is currently employed as the Assistant Director of the Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technology Initiative at The Brookings Institution since October 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the Harvard Kennedy School as a Research Assistant for the Democracy & Internet Governance Initiative from June 2021 to October 2022. Derek also served as a Research Assistant to Kathryn Sikkink, assisting with the Transitional Justice Evidence Tools project from June 2021 to March 2022. Derek has previous experience at Deloitte Tax LLP, where they held positions as a Senior Tax Consultant and Tax Consultant in the Strategic Tax Advisory Team from 2017 to 2019. Derek also interned at the District Office of Congresswoman Karen Bass in 2016. Derek's earliest work experience was at the University of Southern California, where they served as a Research Assistant and Student Intern in various roles from 2012 to 2016. Additionally, they interned at Deloitte Tax LLP as a Business Tax Services Intern in 2015.

Derek Belle pursued their education diligently, beginning in 2012 with their enrollment at the University of Southern California. Here, they dedicated himself to studying Business Administration and Accounting, and also pursued a minor in International Relations. Earning their Bachelor of Science degree in 2016, they completed their undergraduate education at USC.

Seeking to further expand their knowledge and expertise, Derek enrolled at the Harvard Kennedy School in 2020. Over the course of two years, from 2020 to 2022, they pursued a Master of Public Policy - MPP degree, focusing their studies on International and Global Affairs. With their dedication and commitment to education, Derek embarked on an academic journey that equipped him with a strong foundation in both business administration and policy analysis, preparing him for future career opportunities.
