Research Analyst And Senior Assistant To The Vice President at Brookings

Wafa Abedin has a diverse work experience, starting with their roles at the Associated Students of Occidental College, where they served as the Vice President of Internal Affairs and a First-Year Senator. Wafa then went on to work as a Research Intern at the Mayor's Office of Economic Opportunity in the City of Los Angeles. After that, they interned at the UK Mission to the United Nations as a Humanitarian, Peacebuilding and Development Section Intern for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Wafa has also worked at Occidental College as a Program Assistant at the Young Initiative on the Global Political Economy and as a Writing Advisor and Writing Fellow at the Writing Center. Additionally, they were an Education-in-Action Facilitator at the Center for Community Based Learning and conducted research as an Economics Research Assistant. Wafa then became a Global Writing and Speaking Fellow at New York University Shanghai. Currently, they are employed at The Brookings Institution as a Senior Research and Administrative Assistant to the Vice President, Global Economy and Development, following their previous role as a Research and Administrative Assistant in the same department.

Wafa Abedin began their education at Walla Walla High School, where they obtained their High School Diploma in the year 2017. Following their high school graduation, from 2017 to 2021, they pursued their Bachelor's degree in Diplomacy of World Affairs at Occidental College. In the year 2020, they participated in a program at the School for International Training, focusing on Rwanda: Post-Genocide Restoration and Peacebuilding.
