Marcus Smalls has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Marcus currently serves as the Chief Creative Officer at Prayer Kloset Productions, LLC, a boutique production company focused on creating entertaining and profitable work. Prior to this, they worked as a Teaching Artist at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and as a Writer In Residence at TEACHERS AND WRITERS COLLABORATIVE, INC. From 2010, Marcus also worked as a Teaching Artist/Writer In Residence at The Dream Star Project, where they facilitated modules exploring the power of images and building positive self-image through personal narratives. In addition, Marcus has had a long freelance writing career and has worked as a Teaching Artist at BCA/Bronx Writerscorps. Marcus also held the position of Director Of Training at World Vision and served as an Adjunct Instructor at Fuller Theological Seminary. Marcus started their career as the Director of Youth Programs/Youth Pastor at the Primitive Christian Church.

Marcus Smalls obtained a Master's Degree in Theology/Theological Studies from Bakke Graduate University, which was completed between 2004 and 2009. Before attending Bakke Graduate University, Marcus Smalls also attended St. Luke's School and the University of Hartford, but the specific details regarding degrees or fields of study are unknown.
