Hector Lugo is an accomplished educator, musician, and cultural advocate with extensive experience in curriculum development and program management across various institutions. Currently serving as Faculty and Program Director at the San Francisco Community Music Center, Hector oversees the "Musical Discovery" Camp, facilitates master workshops for music teachers in the San Unified School District, and manages teaching artists. As a Visiting Teaching-Artist at Berkeley Unified School District and Artist in Residence at La Peña Cultural Center, Hector has led innovative music programs funded by grants from the California Arts Council, enhancing music education for students throughout the district. His work spans multiple roles, including Director of La Mixta Criolla, where Hector combines diverse musical traditions, and Founder of El Taller de Bomba y Plena, promoting Puerto Rican music and dance. Additionally, Hector has maintained a significant research and teaching practice, supported by advanced degrees from Haverford College and the University of California, Berkeley.
