Phillip Harris

BASE Field Studies Instructor at BROOKLYN BOTANIC GARDEN CORPORATION

Phillip Harris is an experienced educator and musician with a diverse background in teaching and the arts. Currently serving as a BASE Field Studies Instructor at Brooklyn Botanic Garden since September 2014, Phillip also works as a freelance musician, specializing as a drummer and percussionist since May 2014. Phillip has extensive teaching experience, having been a Science Teacher at Cherokee High School since August 2011, instructing courses in Physics, Physical Science, Earth Science, and Biology for grades 9-12. Prior experience includes teaching at Cherokee Reservation Schools from 2011 to 2014, and serving as a Substitute Teacher for Buncombe County Schools in 2010-2011. Phillip began a career in education after earning a B.S. in Science Education with a focus on Physics from Western Carolina University in 2010, along with experience as a physics tutor at the university level from 2008 to 2009.
