Nicolas A. Vernicos

Nicolas A. Vernicos, a well- known philanthropist and entrepreneur. A 4th generation shipowner, President Emeritus of the International Chamber of Commerce, Vice-Chair of Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce, China. Member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chamber of Greek- Chinese Economic Cooperation.

He has served among others, as Director of Public Power Corporation, Hellenic Shipyards, National Bank of Greece (France), Olympic Airways, Attica Group, Duty Free Shops etc.

In addition to his business activities as President of Vernicos Tugs and Salvage and VP of Vernicos Yachts SA, is very active in the sectors of culture and environment, as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Museum of Contemporary Art, The Hellenic Society for the Protection of the Environment and the Cultural Heritage and The Association for the Creation of a New Building for National Opera and "Maria Callas" Academy. Founding Chairman of the Kastela Centre of Contemporary Art in Piraeus.

Born in 1945, Athens, originates from the island of Sifnos in the Cyclades of the Aegean Sea.

He has a M. Sc. in Economics from the Athens University of Economics (ASOEE).
