Laura Kelly

Laura Kelly has a diverse work experience in the field of public health. Laura began their career as a Student Intern at the Broome County Health Department in 2011, where they focused on public health education, outreach, and recruitment for cancer screening programs. In 2012, they joined the same department as a Public Health Representative and later transitioned to the role of Public Health Educator/ Reality Check Coordinator. In this role, Laura was responsible for coordinating and implementing activities of a state and federally funded grant, developing a curriculum, and working with local youth to establish tobacco control policies. Laura also marketed tobacco control messaging through local media.

In 2007, Laura worked as a Diet Assistant at United Health Services, where they processed meal orders and menus for patients, ensuring dietary restrictions were followed. Most recently, Laura joined Tobacco Free Broome & Tioga as a Public Health Educator/ Community Engagement Coordinator in 2021. In this role, they are involved in developing and implementing tobacco control work plans, collaborating with stakeholders for the adoption of policies and resolutions, and marketing tobacco control messaging through various media channels.
