Carla Howell

Carla Howell has over 33 years of experience in higher education, recently transitioning to the role of Assistant Director of Post-Award Services in the Division of Research at Brown University as of February 2024. Prior to this position, Carla served as the Director of Purchasing and Sponsored Programs Administration, as well as the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs at Northwestern State University from August 2001 to March 2024. Carla's extensive background includes managing purchasing operations, enhancing faculty and staff performance related to research funding, and overseeing grant and contract management. Carla also contributed as a Content Expert for Grants/Research Development at the University of Louisiana System and held various roles at Louisiana Tech University and Northwestern State University, consistently demonstrating expertise in financial accounting and compliance in research administration. Carla holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance from Northwestern State University.
