David Rand is the Stephen T. Olney Professor of Natural History at Brown University since July 1991, where responsibilities include serving as Department Chair, conducting NIH-funded research on mitochondrial evolution and genetics, and directing the NSF-funded IGERT PhD training program in Reverse Ecology. David Rand teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in evolutionary biology. Previously, David Rand taught Biology and Mathematics at St. Albans School from September 1981 to June 1983 and served as a Teaching Fellow for Biology at Phillips Academy in the 1980-1981 academic year. David Rand earned a Ph.D. in Biology from Yale University and a B.A. in Biology from Harvard University.
