Elena Shih

Elena Shih is an accomplished Assistant Professor of American Studies and Ethnic Studies at Brown University since July 2014. In addition, Elena serves as the Curriculum and Outreach Coordinator for the Border Statements Collective in Yunnan PRC, focusing on providing free arts education to ethnic minority youth and utilizing public arts practices for cultural preservation and community building. Previous roles include Student Affairs Officer at the UCLA Scholarship Resource Center, where support was provided to undergraduate scholars, and Researcher for the United Nations Inter-Agency Project on Human Trafficking. Elena's educational background includes a PhD in Sociology from UCLA and a BS in Asian Studies from Pomona College.
