Visiting Scholar In Slavery And Justice

Pepijn Brandon is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in the field of Global Economic and Social History. Currently serving as the Editor of BMGN / Low Countries Historical Review at the Koninklijk Nederlands Historisch Genootschap since January 2025, Brandon also holds the position of Full Professor at VU Amsterdam, where a career trajectory includes roles as Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Postdoctoral Researcher. Areas of focus include the significant economic impacts of transatlantic slave-based activities in the eighteenth-century Dutch Republic. In addition to roles at the International Institute of Social History and as a Senior Researcher, Brandon collaborates with Brown University's Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice on an international research project. Prior experience includes visiting positions at Harvard University and a postdoctoral associate role at the University of Pittsburgh.
