Executive Vice President, Planning And Policy at Brown University

Russell Carey is the Executive Vice President for Planning and Policy at Brown University since August 2006, leading the strategic planning processes and governance matters of the institution. Carey's role includes establishing assessment measures for planning priorities, conducting data analysis to evaluate initiatives, and assisting senior leaders in strategy development. In addition to this position, Carey serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Public Policy, teaching about university governance, and has held senior administrative roles including Senior Vice President for Corporation Affairs and Governance and Interim Vice President for Campus Life and Student Services. Prior experience includes serving as Vice President and Secretary of the University, Executive Assistant to the President, and Assistant District Attorney. Carey holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from Brown University, a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Brown University.
