The Project Sales Representative position is located in Vancouver, BC and reports directly to the Division Manager.
The Service Project Sales Representative will participate as a member of the Service Sales team to achieve department and project objectives. The position involves working on a full-range of mechanical service projects opportunities including: Plumbing, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Refrigeration, Building Automation Controls, and Industrial Gas in the commercial, retail, manufacturing and institutional markets. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare estimates for our various service offerings and develop custom solutions adapted to our customers' needs
- Prepare and present written proposals to customers
- Manage customer accounts and visit potential and existing accounts to maintain and generate business
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with major customers and prospects and focus business development efforts of the division towards areas of greatest opportunity
- Liaise, consult and communicate with our business partners: suppliers, sub-contractors, utilities and inspectors
- Support our service team and maintain strong communications with the technicians in the field
- Arrange for the purchasing of materials as well as assist in the scheduling, planning and implementation of secured projects
- Travel to various sites or clients to undertake the above
- Be accountable for the tracking of developed and potential opportunities within our sales tracking interface (SalesForce)
- Maintain current industry knowledge and skills
- Responsible for the promotion and adherence of Black & McDonald quality and safety policies

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- A university degree or technical diploma in business, engineering or related field experience; an engineering degree would be preferred, though not required
- Qualified tradesperson with several years’ experience and previous estimating experience is acceptable
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- At least 5 years’ experience in Commercial and Industrial mechanical systems, and/or in a technical occupation related to HVAC and/or Combustion
- Building Automation controls experience is an asset
- Previous experience within the service business would be considered an asset
- Previous experience managing mechanical projects would be considered an asset
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to explain technical concepts that a customer can clearly understand
- Successful track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, building a new book of business and growing a market
- Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems
- Good understanding of project management including planning, scheduling and implementation
- Self-motivated individual with a high degree of professionalism
- Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision
- Outgoing individual with strong customer service skills
- Comfortable speaking in public with confidence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)
- Working knowledge of Salesforce would be an asset
- Willing and able to travel within the Greater Vancouver area for client site visits as required
- Clean Class 5 BC Drivers’ Licence and Drivers’ Abstract
The expected salary range for this role is between $85,000-$100,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package.
