Emerson Tan

Emerson Tan is an Advisor at BTblock. Previously, they were with Vulnerability Research Labs, LLC from January 2008 to September 2014 as External Research and Development. Emerson was responsible for the management of research and development of national security cyber security projects over a wide variety of technologies including critical infrastructure, software security engineering, semiconductor design, firmware and software reverse engineering. Emerson managed up to 8 research teams in Argentina, Germany, Italy, Australia, France, Singapore, and Malaysia. Contract negotiation, project management, technical review and product commercialisation were some of their key responsibilities. Emerson was also responsible for engagement with the IT security research community and managing relationships with Conference organisers. Emerson has also been a Volunteer Technical Officer/Emergency humanitarian relief Information Manager with MapAction and a Chief Innovation Officer with Financial Empowerment Partners. Recently, Emerson has been acting as an Advisor: Technology and Epidemic Response with COVID Alliance.

Emerson Tan completed a BSc. at UCL and later attended Queen Mary University of London.
