Paul Motion

Paul Motion has extensive work experience in the legal industry, with a focus on data protection, social media, IT/IP litigation, and commercial litigation. Paul began their career at Allan McDougall, Solicitors as a Solicitor from 1984 to 1986. Paul then worked as a Solicitor at Dundas & Wilson from 1986 to 1990, before becoming an Assistant Solicitor at Bell Gully from 1990 to 1993. Paul then served as a Locum Litigation Solicitor at Steedman Ramage in 1994, and as a Litigation Solicitor at Fyfe Ireland WS from 1995 to 1999. Paul then joined Ledingham Chalmers LLP as a Partner from 1999 to 2006, where they focused on growing the firm's IT/IP practice. Since 2006, Paul has been working at BTO Solicitors LLP as the Head of Creative Industries, Data, and IP Team, where they continue to specialize in data protection, IT/IP litigation, and related contracts.

Paul Motion attended Viewlands Primary (Perth Junior Academy) in Perth from 1965 to 1969. Paul then went on to Fair Isle Primary in Kirkcaldy from 1969 to 1971. After that, they attended Capshard Primary School in Kirkcaldy from 1971 to 1972. Paul later attended Kirkcaldy High School from 1972 to 1978. Finally, they studied at the University of Aberdeen from 1978 to 1982 and obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree with a specialization in Law.
