Rubens Farias has worked as a software engineer since 2022, beginning with Buf. Prior to that, they worked at Google from 2019-2018, Improbable from 2018, Nubank Brasil from 2018, Airbnb from 2017, Google from 2016-2015, and Duke University from 2016. At Nubank Brasil, they worked on the "checkings" account, NuConta, with React Native, Clojure, Datomic and microservices. At Airbnb, they developed a simple distributed quota management access for internal database access. At Google in 2016, they developed and improved tools for analyzing quality and performance of image compression schemes. At Duke University, they were a Teaching Assistant for the Software Design class. At Google in 2015, they developed a benchmark for SyzyASan, an Address Sanitizer for Windows, for catching memory errors using shadow memory.
Rubens Farias attended Organização Educacional Farias Brito from 2011 to 2013, where they obtained a High School/Secondary Diploma and Certificate. Rubens then attended Duke University from 2014 to 2019, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. During this time, they also attended ETH Zürich from 2016 to 2017, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
