Joseph Thomas has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Joseph began their career as a Percussion Accompanist at UB Dept. of Theatre and Dance from 2008 to 2011. In 2011, they also worked as a Scribe/Assistant for William H. Stephan, M.D. During this time, they entered patient information into the computer and assisted the attending physician. Joseph then pursued their passion for music and played drums in the band Mayday starting from 2011. In 2015, they transitioned into the medical field as a Resident Physician at University at Buffalo Internal Medicine, where they gained clinical experience until 2018.

Joseph's career continued at the Western New York Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where they held multiple roles from 2018 to 2019. As the Chief Resident of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, they conducted quality improvement research, led morbidity and mortality conferences, and managed patients as the leader of a medical team. Joseph also served on administrative and QI committees. Additionally, they worked as a part-time Teaching Hospitalist, supervising residents in caring for patients in a busy VA hospital.

In 2019, Joseph expanded their career by becoming a Clinical Instructor at D'Youville College Physician Assistant Program and Buffalo Medical Group. At the latter, they started as a Hospitalist and transitioned into a Physician Medical Record Reviewer in 2020. In the same year, they also became a Clinical Instructor at the State University of New York at Buffalo - School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.

Joseph's experience in the medical field further grew as they took on the role of a Physician Mortality Reviewer at Catholic Health from 2020 to 2022. Their work involved reviewing mortality cases. Overall, Joseph Thomas has demonstrated a strong commitment to healthcare and education throughout their career.

Joseph Thomas completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from the University at Buffalo in 2011. Joseph then went on to pursue their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, which they completed in 2015.
