The Buffalo Zoo
Alexis Burke has a diverse background in animal care and education, currently serving as a Carnivore Keeper I and Swing Keeper at The Buffalo Zoo since April 2022, while also taking on the role of Ambassador Animal Caretaker. Prior experience includes positions as an Educator and Seasonal Educator at the Aquarium of Niagara, and as an Animal Handler at Lavender Creek Farm. Additional roles include Animal Caretaker at Wisdom Farm and Northstar Farm, along with front desk responsibilities at Canisius College. Alexis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation from Canisius University, earned between 2017 and 2021.

Buffalo Zoo Facts Founded in 1875, the Buffalo Zoo is the third oldest zoo in the United States. Each year, the Zoo welcomes approximately 400,000 visitors and is the second largest tourist attraction in Western New York, second only to Niagara Falls. Located on 23.5 acres of Buffalo’s beautiful Delaware Park, the Zoo exhibits a diverse collection of wild and exotic animals and more than 320 different species of plants.
