Chuck Baker’s corporate practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate finance and restructurings, with a core focus in the sports, media and consumer sectors. Chuck is currently a Partner and Head of Global Media, Sports and Entertainment practice at DLA Piper, one of the largest corporate law firms in the world.
Chuck has represented buyers and sellers of sports franchises in the National Football League, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer and many of the European football leagues.
Chuck has also developed specific experience representing investment banks and consulting firms on corporate finance advisory matters, including fairness and solvency opinions, and has lectured extensively on these matters to various groups, including the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and various private seminar organizations.
He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association—Business Law and Sports Law committees, Financial Advisor Task Force, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He has been repeatedly recognized in bothChambers USA and The Legal 500 United States for his work in mergers and acquisitions, and sports law. In 2015, his work on the Atlanta Hawks sale was recognized by Global M&A Networks and awarded USA Deal of the Year at the M&A Atlas Awards.
Chuck serves on the Board of Directors for the Ivy Sports Symposium, an Independent Director on the Board of Directors for USA Triathlon, Executive Officer and Director for the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Board of Trustees and Sports Luncheon Committee for the March of Dimes. He holds a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School.
