Giel de Nijs

Giel de Nijs has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and positions. Giel currently holds the position of Head of Infrastructure & Data Architecture at Bugcrowd, where they started in July 2021. Prior to this role, they worked as a SaaS Platform Architect at Bugcrowd from September 2019 to July 2021.

Before joining Bugcrowd, Giel worked at Nalej as the Chief Technologist from October 2016 to September 2019. In this role, they were responsible for accelerating platform build, integrating technologies and partners, implementing customer-specific applications, and engaging open-source communities.

From July 2013 to October 2016, Giel served as the Director of Engineering, Analytics at Actian Corporation. Giel led engineering teams and various products, collaborated with sales and marketing, engaged with customers, and contributed to the company's product vision.

Prior to their director role, Giel worked as a Senior Architect at Actian Corporation from January 2013 to July 2013. In this position, they focused on architecture, design, implementation, and quality control of an analytical SQL database.

Giel's previous experiences include working as a Senior Software Engineer at Actian Corporation from November 2008 to December 2012, and as a Research Scientist at Philips Research from November 2004 to November 2008. At Philips Research, they actively participated in various technical innovation and research projects, generating multiple patents.

Giel's early career includes an internship at CWI in 2004, owning a business called Safe Kimono in 2002, and working as a Developer at Strawberries from 1999 to 2002.

Giel de Nijs earned an MSc degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Amsterdam, where they studied from 1998 to 2004. In 2013 to 2014, they participated in the L3 Leadership Development Program at The Glowan Consulting Group in Glendora, CA. Additionally, in May 2020, Giel de Nijs obtained a certification as an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
