Aleksandar Smiljanic

Aleksandar Smiljanic has a long and varied work experience, beginning in 1988 as an Automation Engineer for Rade Koncar - Engeneering, where they designed, developed, and commissioned an automation system for a hot steel rolling mill plant in Store, Slovenia. In 1992, they worked as an AI Specialist for AGIP, where they developed an expert system for industrial diagnostics that was successfully deployed in AGIP Trecate plant and conducted research on image/signal processing and pattern matching. From 1995 to 1997, they were a Project Manager at Emporion, where they managed the development team on several high profile projects. In 2003, they worked as a Consultant for Novartis, where they developed and delivered several high profile web applications. From 2011 to 2014, they were the CEO of SmartRM, Inc., managing the company and overseeing development and product design. In 2013, they graduated from The Founder Institute. From 2014 to present, they have worked as a Lead Developer and System Architect for Built-ID (formerly IndustryHub), where they implemented a React application, two AngularJS applications, a REST API on Node. js, set up Heroku deployment, CI/CD on CircleCI, AWS (S3, CloudFront, Lambda), and supporting services/infrastructure such as Mandrill, MailChimp, Papertrail, SSL, Google Analytics, and Mixpanel. Additionally, since 2014 they have been a Freelance Developer for Toptal and a JavaScript Developer - full-stack for EMnify, where they set up the architecture for EMnify administration application, defined a RESTful API and tooling for documentation generation, and developed a seed front-end and back-end project.

Aleksandar Smiljanic completed a Master's degree in Computer Science from CEFRIEL - Politecnico di Milano from 1990 to 1991. Prior to this, they obtained a Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Zagreb/Sveuciliste u Zagrebu from 1983 to 1988. Aleksandar also attended MIOC from 1978 to 1982, though no degree was obtained. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, such as a MongoDB for Node.js Developers certification from MongoDB, Inc. in 2015, and various certifications from Code School in 2014.
