Buller District Council
Simon Pickford is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in local government and project management. Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Buller District Council since March 2024, Simon previously held the position of General Manager Community Services at Dunedin City Council from October 2014 to March 2024, overseeing cultural facilities, events, and community development. Before this, Simon worked at New Plymouth District Council in various managerial roles, including Manager Executive Services, where leadership was provided to multiple council functions, and Manager Customer and Regulatory Services, focusing on service delivery standards. Earlier experience includes project management positions at Puke Ariki, Zeron Interactive, and Cat Hill Productions, as well as a role as Commissioning Editor at Elsevier Science, managing a portfolio of engineering and environmental publications. Academic qualifications include a BSc in Biology and Psychology from the University of Leicester and an MA in Interactive Media from Middlesex University.

The Buller District Council is the territorial authority for the northern West Coast. Our goal is to promote the well-being of our local communities.
