Andreas Somogyi's work experience includes serving as the Head of Department for Legal Protection and Legal Cooperation at the Bundesministerium für europäische und internationale Angelegenheiten (MFA Austria) since 2022. Prior to this role, they were the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Berlin from 2016 to 2022. Before that, they worked at the Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs of Austria as the Deputy Head of Citizen Desk, Information on Consular Affairs, Consular Crisis, Legalizations from 2009 to 2016. From 2006 to 2009, they served as an Economic Counsellor at the Embassy of Austria in Washington D.C. Andreas also worked at the Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs of Austria from 2000 to 2006 as a Desk Officer and Head of Unit. Additionally, they have experience working as a Desk Officer at the Bundeskanzleramt from 1998 to 1999, and as an Ehrenamtlicher Mitarbeiter at Helping Hands from 1994 to 1997.
Andreas Somogyi earned a Master's degree in Law from Wien from 1989 to 1995.
