Brandon Kopp has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Brandon started their career as a Graduate Research Fellow at The Ohio State University, where they served as the lead researcher on multiple research programs. Brandon was responsible for all aspects of the research, including hypothesis formulation, report writing, and presentation.
After their time at the university, Brandon joined the Army National Guard as a Section Sergeant. Brandon managed personnel responsible for the installation and maintenance of communication networks. Brandon held various leadership and support positions on domestic and overseas deployments.
Currently, Brandon is working at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Brandon began their journey at BLS as a Research Psychologist, a role they held for over 10 years. Recently, they have taken on new responsibilities as the Director of the Data Science Research Center. In this position, they lead data science initiatives, coordinates work across BLS offices, provides direct support through project work, establishes governance and best practices, and increases BLS's capacity to tackle new data science projects.
Brandon Kopp obtained a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from The Ohio State University in 2010. Prior to that, they earned their M.A. in Social Psychology from the same university in 2006. Their undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from North Dakota State University, which they completed between 1999 and 2003. Finally, they received a high school diploma from Griggs County Central High School in 1998. In addition to their formal education, Brandon also holds various certifications in fields such as Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning Engineering for Production, Data Structures and Algorithms, Executive Data Science, Deep Learning, and Data Science.
