Michael Madowitz

Member, Data Users Advisory Committee at Bureau of Labor Statistics

Michael Madowitz is a Principal Economist at the Roosevelt Institute since August 2024 and a member of the Data Users Advisory Committee for the Bureau of Labor Statistics since 2020, providing expert advice on economic statistics. Previously, Michael served as Director of Macroeconomic Policy at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth and as Senior Economist for the United States Congress Joint Economic Committee, where responsibilities included summarizing technical data for officials and organizing hearings. Further experience includes roles as a labor economist for the Council of the District of Columbia and as an Economist at the Center for American Progress. Michael has held positions in nonprofit oversight with the SEC Child Development Center and contributed as a Dissertation Fellow at Resources for the Future. Academic background includes a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at UC San Diego and degrees in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Pomona College.
