Tom Heinlein

Assistant Director For National Conservation Lands And Community Partnerships at Bureau of Land Management

Tom Heinlein stepped in as the Acting Assistant Director for National Conservation Lands and Community Partnerships in August 2022. He has a wealth of land management experience, most recently as acting State Director for Alaska and, before that, Anchorage District Manager. He has served once before as the acting Assistant Director for National Conservation Lands and Community Partnerships. Heinlein has also been the Rocky Mountain District Manager in Colorado and the Field Manager in Monticello, Utah, and has completed assignments as the National Operations Center Associate Director, Deputy State Director for Resources for Eastern States, and Division Chief for Forest and Rangelands and Deputy Division Chief for National Conservation Lands for Headquarters.

Before joining the BLM in 2008, Heinlein worked for the National Park Service, the Ecological Restoration Institute at Northern Arizona University, and the U.S. Forest Service.
