Bureau of Meteorology
Robert Argent currently serves as the Chief Scientist and Group Executive for Science and Innovation at the Bureau of Meteorology, a position held since March 2008. In this role, Robert oversees the Research to Operations Program, which integrates cutting-edge science into operational services. Previously, Robert held various leadership positions including General Manager of Water and Branch Head of Water Information Services, where responsibilities included managing national water information functions and engaging with multiple governmental and scientific organizations. Robert has also directed the Water Information Research and Development Alliance and managed climate and water IT services. With a solid academic foundation comprising a PhD in Environmental Hydrology and Palaeoclimate from the University of Melbourne, as well as degrees in Boundary Layer Meteorology and Agricultural Engineering, Robert's expertise spans research, development, and operational delivery in the realms of meteorology and water resources.
