Steven Bernasconi is an experienced manager in the fields of community services, environmental management, and hazard preparedness. Currently serving as the Manager of Hazard Preparedness and Response for NSWACT at the Bureau of Meteorology since April 2022, Steven leads a team of meteorologists, hydrologists, and climatologists to support community and emergency responses to weather events. Prior to this role, Steven was a Senior Project Officer at Aboriginal Affairs NSW, focusing on community infrastructure and partnerships. Steven’s extensive background with Port Stephens Council spans over two decades, holding various positions such as Communications Manager and Community Services Manager, where responsibilities included managing diverse community services and waste management initiatives. Academically, Steven holds a Master of Applied Science in Social Ecology from Western Sydney University and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Coastal Management from the University of New England.
