Zhi-Weng Chua is a Senior Climatologist at the Bureau of Meteorology, having served in the role since February 2017, where responsibilities include researching data assimilation techniques for rainfall, developing satellite products, and creating a drought hazard product using remote sensing data. Prior roles include Public and Aviation Weather Meteorologist, where Zhi-Weng created forecasts and communicated with media, and Graduate Meteorologist with an internationally-recognized diploma. Previous experience includes an Engineering Intern at GHD, conducting environmental impact assessments, and tutoring at the University of Melbourne. Zhi-Weng holds a PhD in Meteorology with a focus on Remote Sensing from RMIT University, a Master's in Engineering with Distinction from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor's in Civil Systems from the same institution.
