Grady Ela has worked in various roles since 2009. In 2009, they were an Area Director at the Boys and Girls Club of the South Coast Area. From 2014 to 2016, Grady was an Orientation Leader at Associated Students, Inc.-Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Grady then worked at Acorns from 2016 to 2020, where they held roles such as Jr Software Engineer, Senior Analyst, Business Analyst, and Customer Service Analyst. In 2020, Grady became a Software Engineer at JMJ Financial. Most recently, in 2021, Grady joined Burner (Ad Hoc Labs) as a DevOps Engineer, where they are developing data and insight systems to drive business decisions and build better products, and converting legacy infrastructure to IaC with IaaS tools like Terraform and Serverless.

Grady Ela attended San Clemente High School from 2006 to 2010. Grady then went on to Saddleback College, where they earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) Cum Laude in Business Administration from 2010 to 2013. Grady then continued their education at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, where they earned a BS in Business Administration with a focus in Finance and Financial Management from 2013 to 2015.
