Wanda Bautista

VP, Global at Burness

Wanda Bautista joined Burness in August 2013 as a communications coordinator for the global practice, after graduating from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service with a degree in international politics. She supports a variety of projects in agriculture, forestry, and the environment, working primarily with the Climate and Land Use Alliance, the Ford Foundation, and its grantees.

While at Georgetown, she spent time studying in Brazil and Costa Rica. In Costa Rica, she managed a group of volunteers to teach English in Tibás, a low-resource community on the outskirts of San Jose, and, in Brazil, she taught English in the Vidigal favela of Rio de Janeiro.

As a Jumpstart AmeriCorps member, she worked to improve the language skills of 15 preschool children in Washington, D.C. She also worked as an assistant in the Office of the Secretariat at the Organization of American States (OAS), at the SFS Science, Technology and International Affairs Program, and as an English tutor and mentor for children struggling in school. Wanda was active in Georgetown’s Hermanas Unidas, a support group dedicated to helping women adjust to collegiate life and become involved in the community.
