Alexander Flügge

Joining Buro Happold in 2021, Alexander is a Technical Director in our Berlin MEP team.

He has over 25 years of experience managing teams working on large construction projects within the healthcare and commercial sectors. Alexander’s specialist knowledge of cooling systems and chillers, including heat pumps and RDA systems, has seen him project manage numerous state-of-the-art, high-budget developments across Germany.

Before joining the practice, Alexander worked for several large corporates, including Arcadis, where he provided technical consultancy, directorship and MEP coordination. His notable projects include The Fontenay (a luxury hotel in Hamburg), Überseequartier (a cultural and commercial neighbourhood in Hamburg) and the Hannover Medical University.

During his time at Otto Meyer Technik, Alexander was the Head of Technical Development for Hotels. His responsibilities extended beyond providing technical design and engineering, encompassing sales and marketing expertise for technical service clients. Clients included Airbus Hamburg, Citti-Malls, Spiegelhaus Hamburg and Famila-Märkte.

Prior to this, Alexander was as Technical Director in a Berlin Hospital for 16 years. This role involved overseeing the implementation of a new emergency unit, radiology department, radiotherapy department and a new clinic for paediatric and adolescent psychiatry.
