Everton Burke Obe

Everton was appointed to the Governing Body in July 2011 and was made Chair to the Corporation in May 2013. He began his working life as an apprentice chef, rising to assistant head chef level before going into teaching. He has held senior management posts at Assistant and Vice Principal level and is now a Director in Birmingham Fashion House. Everton has worked on several national steering committees advising government on qualifications for the Hospitality sector. He is passionate about the experience that learners receive. His mantra is that we should treat our learners the way we wish to be treated, which means that they should receive the very best service possible. Everton was awarded the OBE for services to Further Education in the New Year Honours List 2019. He is extremely honoured to receive this public recognition and intends to continue working for the benefit of the College and the FE sector for as long as possible.
