Laura Powers

Laura Powers has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Laura is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Business Agility Institute, a position they have held since March 2023. Prior to this, Laura served as the Chief Operating Officer at the same organization from January 2021 to March 2023. Laura also held the role of Vice President of Operations from October 2020 to January 2021.

In addition to their current role, Laura has worked as an Agile Instructor at Stanford Continuing Studies since December 2016. Laura is also the Founder & Principal of Powered By Teams, a consulting firm they established in December 2015.

Laura's experience in the Agile industry is further highlighted by their involvement with Agile Alliance, where they served as the Coaching & Mentoring Track Co-Chair for the Agile 20XX Conference until July 2020.

Before entering the Agile field, Laura held leadership positions at Radtac and Agile Learning Labs. At Radtac, they served as the US CEO from November 2017 to February 2020 and as the US Co-CEO from February 2017 to November 2017. As the Vice President of Agile Learning Labs, Laura was responsible for the organization's operations from July 2011 to December 2015.

Laura also gained valuable experience at eBay as a Senior Technical Project Manager from January 2002 to July 2003 and at CollabNet as a Senior Technical Project Manager from April 2001 to December 2001. Prior to that, they worked as the Professional Services Manager at Betasphere, Inc. from January 2001 to March 2001.

Laura's early career includes founding their own business, GreenFieldz, where they served as the Owner from 2003 to 2005.

Laura Powers earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, which they completed from 1981 to 1985. Laura went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, which they completed from 1985 to 1986. Additionally, Laura attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they studied Computer Software Engineering, although the specific time frame and degree obtained are unknown.

In terms of certifications, Laura has obtained the following: Change Practitioner from Prosci in January 2020, and certifications in Agile Coaching (ICA-ACC), Agile Leadership (ICP-ALP), Agile Marketing (ICP-Mkg), Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF) from ICAgile. Laura has also completed the Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) certifications from Scrum Alliance. Laura is a Certified Trainer in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) from the Association for Integrative Psychology and a Certified Trainer of "Training from the Back of the Room" from Bowperson Publishing and Training. Laura is also an Innovation Games Trained Facilitator and a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) from the Association for Integrative Psychology. Lastly, Laura holds the Scaled Agile Framework Program Consultant (SPC5) certification from Scaled Agile, Inc.
