Nick Ryan currently serves as the Senior Defence Lead at Business NSW, focusing on engaging with government and the defence industry to promote investment in New South Wales. In addition, Nick holds the position of Policy Manager at Business Western Sydney, advocating for economic, social, and cultural investments to enhance community quality of life. Previous roles include Senior Public Affairs Adviser at the NSW Environment Protection Authority, Senior Consultant at CT Group, and Policy Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, among others. Nick's experience spans various sectors, including media, where Nick worked as a journalist for Fairfax Media, and in government communications as a media adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Educationally, Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Politics from UC San Diego, and a Diploma of Film from the Sydney Film School.

Headed by David Borger as Executive Director, Business Western Sydney has been a key player in shaping government policy and has worked hard to enhance Western Sydney as a city that attracts global investment and global talent. Central to our advocacy was a successful campaign for the Badgerys Creek site to be named by the Federal Government with support from the Opposition and NSW Governments as the site of Sydney’s second airport.
