Shoneez Gani

Shoneez Gani serves as Legal Counsel at BVNK since January 2023, advising on various services including over-the-counter crypto and fiat services, cross-border FX, and managing EMI licenses in the UK and EU. Previously, Shoneez held the same title at Luno from August 2021 to January 2023, where responsibilities included managing regulatory requests and licensing applications in the EU and providing guidance on cryptocurrency regulations. At EY from February 2018 to May 2021, Shoneez worked as a Legal Assistant Director, overseeing commercial and banking legal matters across Africa and drafting legal agreements. Shoneez began a legal career as a Candidate Attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright, gaining experience in energy law and commercial litigation. Education includes an LLM in EU Energy and Climate Law from the University of Groningen and an LLB from the University of Cape Town, complemented by a study in Shariah Law focused on Islamic Banking and Finance. Leadership roles included directing a mentorship program for Black Law Students and participating in a community service initiative for refugee rights.
