Jim Benson

Jim Benson has extensive experience in the building services and engineering consultancy industry. Jim has worked in various roles and positions throughout their career.

From 2016 onwards, they served as the Operations Director M&E at BWB Consulting Ltd. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the design and supervision of building services across different sectors, with a specific focus on healthcare, education, commercial, residential, and infrastructure. Jim also provided expertise in areas such as low energy, sustainability, renewable energy, and BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes certification.

Before their time at BWB Consulting Ltd, Jim was the Director of EDCM Building Services Consulting Engineers Ltd from 2011 to 2017. Here, they played a crucial role in providing design and supervision services for building projects across various sectors. Jim also gained expertise in low energy, sustainability, renewable energy, and BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes certification.

In 2007, Jim launched EDCM Vigor, a division of EDCM Consulting that specialized in sustainability, renewable technologies, and certification in areas such as BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes. While in this role, Jim also managed a team of Low Carbon Consultants and Energy Assessors.

Jim served as the Director of EDCM Consulting from 2006 to 2011. In addition to their responsibilities at EDCM Vigor, they continued to provide design and supervision services for building projects across various sectors.

Prior to their time at EDCM Consulting, Jim worked as the Regional Director at Halcrow Yolles from 2005 to 2006. Jim also held the position of Director at Halcrow from 2002 to 2005.

Jim Benson completed their education at Leeds Beckett University from 1979 to 1982, obtaining an HND in Building Services Engineering. Prior to that, they attended Lawnswood High School from 1974 to 1979. Jim also holds additional certifications, including BREEAM UK Refurbishment and Fit-Out from BRE Global, obtained in July 2015, BREEAM Assessor Public and Commercial from BRE Global, obtained in February 2012, and Low Carbon Energy Assessor from CIBSE Certification Limited, obtained in July 2008.
