Thomas Ryan has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Thomas started their career as a Developer at the City of Austin in 1988. Thomas then worked at American Management Systems as a Senior Principal, where they were responsible for developing compliance matching programs. In 2002, they joined Hewlett-Packard and Electronic Data Systems as a Project Manager, focusing on application development efforts for the Clinical Information Support System and Occupational Health Record-keeping System. In 2010, Thomas moved to Harris Corporation as a Program Manager, leading the development of the Veteran Benefit Management System for Rating and Veteran Benefit Management System for Awards applications. Currently, they are with By Light Professional IT Services as the Chief Technology Officer, overseeing technological resources and strategic innovation.

Thomas Ryan completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, with a minor in Business Analysis, from Texas A&M University, where they studied from 1983 to 1987. In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained several certifications. In November 2020, they became a Certified SAFe® 5 Program Consultant from Scaled Agile, Inc. Prior to that, in November 2016, they achieved the certification of Certified SAFe 4 Agilist, also from Scaled Agile, Inc. Furthermore, in September 2009, they obtained the Certified Scrum Master certification from Scrum Alliance.
