John Yang

John Yang is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and multimodal systems. Since May 2018, John has served as the Head of Multimodal Foundation Model at ByteDance, where notable achievements include leading Intelligent Creation and launching Seedream 4. Prior roles at ByteDance include Head of Intelligent Creation Technology, overseeing a global team of over 1,400 and driving technological advancements for platforms such as TikTok and CapCut, as well as founding and developing the AI Lab focused on computer vision, contributing to significant user engagement growth. Prior to ByteDance, John held positions at Snap Inc. and Adobe, advancing research in AI and technology innovation. John earned a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
