Samuel Shaner

Technical Director Of R&d at C-Zero

Samuel Shaner has a diverse work experience, starting with their current position as the Director of Engineering at C-Zero since July 2019. Prior to that, they co-founded Yellowstone Energy in June 2016 and served as its Co-founder until July 2019. Samuel also worked as an Innovation Fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from May 2017 to May 2019. Samuel was a Graduate Student in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT from September 2011 to January 2018, focusing on methods development for time-dependent deterministic and stochastic neutron transport. Samuel was also a Director at the Harvard Cooperative Society from September 2012 to May 2014. Additionally, they have experience with the MIT Clean Energy Prize, where they served as the Managing Director from May 2012 to June 2013 and as an Organizer from January 2012 to May 2012. Samuel has interned at various organizations, including Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Computational Physics Intern in 2012, Corning Incorporated as a Research Intern in 2010, and Gas Reaction Technologies Inc as an Intern in 2008.

Samuel Shaner completed their education in a chronological manner. Samuel first attended UC Santa Barbara from 2007 to 2011, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering. Later, from 2011 to 2014, they enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and obtained a Masters of Science degree in Nuclear Science and Engineering. Lastly, they continued their education at MIT from 2014 to 2018, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Nuclear Science and Engineering.
