David Heller has four years of professional experience, beginning in 2014 as a Research Assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). At MIT, they worked in the Langer Lab, which focuses on the study and development of polymers to deliver drugs, particularly genetically engineered proteins, DNA, and RNAi, continuously at controlled rates for prolonged periods of time. In 2017, David took on an Intern role at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) in the Community Exploration & Learning Lab, where they worked on expeditions related to sickle cell disease and its genetic precursor, as well as bitter taste SNP genotyping. In 2018, David joined Y Combinator as a S18 Batch Member, and also became Co-Founder and Head of Operations at C16 Biosciences. At C16, they are leveraging microbiology to produce an environmentally sustainable replacement for palm oil.
