Barrie Martin

Barrie Martin has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Barrie started their career as a Research Scientist at Boots Pharmaceuticals in 1986 and worked there until 1993. Barrie then joined Fisons Pharmaceuticals as a Research Scientist, where they were responsible for synthetic design to pertinent targets. In 1995, they moved to Astra Pharmaceuticals as a Senior Research Scientist. At AstraZeneca, Barrie held various roles, including Senior Research Scientist, Lead Chemist Medicinal Chemistry, and Lead Generation Project Lead. Barrie was invited to be a founder member of a team of experienced medicinal chemists and was responsible for delivering projects from HTS and fast follower start points. Barrie also worked at the University of Manchester as a Visiting Scientist and engaged in research activities from 2011 to 2019. Currently, they are affiliated with C4X Discovery Ltd, where they have held multiple positions. Barrie'sroles at C4X Discovery include Medicinal Chemist, Chief Medicinal Chemist, Senior Programme Manager, and Director of Chemistry and Conformational Design. Throughout their career, Barrie has been involved in various drug discovery projects, managing multidisciplinary teams, leading chemistry efforts, and collaborating with industry experts.

Barrie Martin's education history begins with their attendance at Farnborough Comprehensive from 1979 to 1984, where they completed their secondary education. Barrie then pursued further studies in the field of Chemistry, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from Nottingham Trent University between 1986 and 1991. Afterward, Barrie Martin continued their academic journey and completed a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Chemistry at the University of East Anglia from 1997 to 2000.
