Branisha Smith, MPH, currently serves as the Behavioral Health Program Manager at Cabarrus Health Alliance, focusing on prevention, education, and harm reduction initiatives. With experience as the RIPS Team Program Manager and Program Coordinator II, Branisha has contributed significantly to regional infection prevention efforts. Prior roles include Processing Assistant, School Safety Accounting Technician II, and Breast Health Program Coordinator, where responsibilities encompassed eligibility determination for WIC, oversight of behavioral health services in schools, and breast cancer education outreach. Previous experience includes positions with the Charlotte Hornets, Susan G. Komen Charlotte as a Health Educator and Community Outreach Intern, and at Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. Branisha holds a Master of Public Health in Health Management and Policy from Benedictine University, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and an Associate of Arts from Central Piedmont Community College.
Cabarrus Health Alliance
The Cabarrus Health Alliance (CHA), the health department serving Cabarrus County, brings nationally recognized leadership and expertise in public health to the the NC Research Campus. CHA is one of the only nationally certified public health departments in the country. CHA provides many free to low-cost classes and programs for the residents of Cabarrus County on subjects such as healthy cooking, yoga, nutrition education and disease management. Classes and programs are offered at the CHA headquarters in Kannapolis and throughout Cabarrus County in neighborhood centers, churches and other facilities.
