Brook Byrd is a Clinical & Imaging Researcher at CairnSurgical. Brook was previously a Summer REU intern at Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where they worked on a computational applied mathematics collaboration between Harvard Mathematical professor, HMS, and Tri-CAM team to simulate protein origami and auto construction of queen/drone DNA sequenced structures. Brook was also an undergraduate research assistant at Jefferson Lab, where they prototyped a head-track PET imaging system and software engineered an electronic component monitoring system for the Hall B CLAS12 Drift Chamber. Prior to that, they were a teaching and research assistant at the University of Liverpool Radiotherapy Department. In addition, Brook has been involved with the American Legion Auxiliary, where they were a Virginia Girls State Head Counselor from June 2012 to June 2015. Brook has also been a swim team coach with the Stonehouse Swim Team from May 2012 to August 2015.

Brook Byrd has a Ph.D. in Health/Medical Physics from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, an MPhil in Medical Radiologic Technology/Science - Radiation Therapist from the University of Liverpool, and a BS in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from Christopher Newport University.
