Ellen Curtis has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Ellen started their career at BBDO as a Senior Vice President and Creative Director, managing various clients and overseeing a large creative department. Ellen then joined DDB Needham as a Creative Director, where they led the creative team and developed advertising strategies for US WEST. At Ogilvy & Mather, they served as a Senior Partner and Creative Director, focusing on managing the creative for Unilever's Dove brand and contributing to its expansion into new product categories. Ellen went on to co-found Whizbang Marketing Firm, where they played a key role in defining the agency's vision and establishing its creative processes and departments. Ellen also co-founded Recipe, a food and beverage marketing agency, where they collaborated with CPG and produce companies to develop and implement B2C and B2B strategies. Additionally, Ellen worked at Rosetta as a Social Media Director, leading the agency's social media practice and managing social strategy for Samsung Mobile USA. Ellen then joined California Polytechnic State University as an Adjunct Professor before transitioning to the Cal Poly Corporation, where they held various leadership roles. As the Associate Executive Director, Marketing and Communication, they played a crucial part in the organization's strategic development and stakeholder engagement. Ellen also served as the Interim Human Resources Director, spearheading initiatives such as talent recruitment and employee engagement. Prior to that, as the Director of Marketing and Communication, they planned and implemented strategic marketing programs for Cal Poly University. Throughout their career, Ellen has demonstrated expertise in marketing, communication, creative leadership, and brand strategy.
Ellen Curtis earned their Bachelor's degree in Communication from Boston University. Ellen then pursued a Master's degree in Strategic Communication Management from Concordia University-St. Paul, which they completed in 2021. In addition to their formal education, Ellen has obtained certifications such as the Section4 Certified Brand Strategist and completed courses like the RCR Basic Course and Social and Behavioral Research through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program).
