Michael Younger

VP, Workforce, Strategy & Innovation at Calbright College

Michael Younger serves as the Vice President of Workforce, Strategy and Innovation at Calbright College. He comes to the college with extensive private and public sector strategy and operational planning experience with a focus on equity. Most recently, Mr. Younger served as a state senate confirmed deputy secretary leading workforce strategy and equity at the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA) on behalf of Governor Gavin Newsom. At LWDA, he was responsible for the agency’s workforce and employer engagement strategy in building equitable statewide public workforce development programs that support greater connections between California job seekers (inclusive of those with the highest barriers to employment), employers, philanthropy, community-based organizations and government. Prior to LWDA, he served as Assistant Division Chief of Enterprise Strategy for the largest public pension fund in the U.S., the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, where he led business and strategic planning, enterprise performance reporting, performance goal development and the development of the inaugural D&I enterprise strategy supporting all lines of business. While in the private sector, Mr. Younger was Senior Manager of Business Strategy and led operational strategy, enterprise planning, strategic partnerships and customer experience at AT&T. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy and lives in the Sierra Foothills with his wife, daughter, and son.
