Bryan Walton

Board Member at Calgary Co-op

With 43 years in the agri-food sector, including twenty in the grocery industry and a background in science, Bryan brings extensive industry experience to the board, specifically in the areas of food safety.

Bryan worked his way up from a Courtesy Clerk to VP with the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors where he was responsible for government relations, oversight on the national food safety file and managing local and national environment initiatives. His in-depth knowledge of food safety, network of connections and executive leadership experience will serve him well in this role as he creates synergies with charitable organizations and the business community in areas of trade.

Deeply entrenched in the community, Bryan is currently a member and president elect nominee with the Rotary Club of Calgary, Stampede Park. Bryan has volunteered with the Calgary Stampede for 12 years and served as the past Chair of the Agri-food Committee and is a member of the Calgary Economic Development Agri-food Advisory Committee.

Bryan’s role overseeing the environment file for the National Grocery Trade Association took him around the globe to study recycling systems. He was co-founder of a recycling company in BC which diverts used beverage containers away from stores via a specialized system of bottle depots.
