Alexis Filyk is currently a volunteer at the Calgary Drop In & Rehab Centre Society and is pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta. Previously, Alexis served as an MSc candidate in Dr. Simon Hirota’s Lab at the University of Calgary, focusing on intestinal organoids for Cystic Fibrosis treatment. Alexis has held various roles in the hospitality industry, including server positions at CENTRAL TAPS + FOOD and Earls Kitchen + Bar. Additionally, Alexis served as Vice President and Executive Committee Member at CUCOH, and contributed as a community development volunteer at Providence Manor Apts. Research experience includes work as a clinical research assistant for the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology and a research assistant in gastrointestinal studies at the University of Calgary. Alexis obtained a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Queen's University and graduated from Ernest Manning High School.
