Calgary Police Service
Garry Woods has extensive experience in law enforcement, currently serving as a Sergeant with the Calgary Police Service since May 2008. In early roles, Garry performed front-line policing duties and later worked as a Liaison Officer for the Caribbean and Latin American communities. As Sergeant of the Diversity Resource Team, Garry led initiatives to build trust and relationships with diverse populations, including immigrant communities and marginalized groups. Responsibilities have also included leading the Arrest Processing Section to ensure the well-being of detainees. Garry has held director positions with the Legacy Place Society and The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth, providing governance and oversight. Prior to the Calgary Police Service, Garry served as a police officer with the Royal Ulster Constabulary, engaging in operational security and anti-terrorist duties. Academic achievements include degrees in French and German from various institutions in Germany and France.
