Irene Cheng is an accomplished academic and architect currently serving as the Chair of Graduate Architecture and an Associate Professor at the California College of the Arts since September 2012, after holding the position of Assistant Professor. In addition to her academic role, Irene Cheng is a Partner and Co-Founder of Cheng + Snyder, established in 2005. Irene Cheng was a McNeil Center Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania from 2009 to 2010 and worked as a Designer at Bernard Tschumi Architects from 2002 to 2005. Irene Cheng earned a PhD in Architecture from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation between 2005 and 2014, and a Master of Architecture (MArch) from the same institution from 1999 to 2002, following a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in Social Studies from Harvard University from 1993 to 1997.
